Planning permission has just been awarded for our new, single-family mews home in the London Borough of Camden, which will be our second Passive House in the borough.

The project has been sensitively designed to fit into the context of the Bloomsbury conservation area, a muted palate of materials on the façade – London stock with dry brushed, lime mortar – providing a hard protective shell for the soft, warm, family home within. From the mews the massing of the building is diminutive and industrial in keeping with its surroundings, whilst deep cuts in the section allow light to penetrate deep into the long, narrow plan. The scheme incorporates solar electric and thermal collectors and extensive wildflower planting on its three green roofs. The project is expected to start on site in early 2013.
