Bere:architects carried out extensive repair and renovation work to this Grade One terrace of houses; London’s oldest surviving terrace which is owned by English Heritage. It was built before the Great Fire of London on land owned by a family that also had extensive property interests in the Holborn area; as such it is thought to represent early prototype housing for Georgian London.

By the 1990’s the buildings were derelict. Our work involved forensic investigation and careful repairs to the fabric. We also upgraded the interior facilities, including some contemporary bathroom pod insertions. The project demonstrates our ability to carry out careful and sympathetic repairs to the most important historic buildings, at the same time incorporating sensitive upgrading to suit modern functional requirements and catering for contemporary taste where appropriate.
