Sarah Lewis, Christian Senkpiel, bere:architects, Passivhaus Trust, Retrofit Award

 

We are very pleased to announce that the Mayville Community Centre won best retrofit earlier this week, in the UK Passivhaus Awards 2012. Congratulations to all involved.

Parsons & Whittley’s highly commendable Wimbish social housing scheme won the Domestic category and the winner of the Non Domestic category was Architype’s Oakmeadow Primary School. Full details of all shortlisted schemes can be found on the Passivhaus Trust website.

Green Build Awards Logo

We received two awards last night at the inaugural Greenbuild Awards in the Leisure Buildings category for our certified passivhaus retrofit of Mayville Community Centre and in the Domestic Retrofit category for one of our Retrofit for the Future projects, Passfield Drive.

The Mayville Community Centre picked up the award for Best Public Building at the 3R (Refurb, Rethink, Retrofit) Awards 2011 at a presentation held last night at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington, where many of those playing a pioneering role in this sector were present. 

Following the success of the inaugural Retrofit Awards, launched in 2010, the awards were expanded to include all areas of the retrofit and refurbishment markets.

 

The Larch House has won the Low Energy Social Housing Project of the Year at the Sustainable Housing Awards 2011 having been shortlisted within a strong field of finalists. 

The Sustainable Housing Awards, organized by Inside Housing magazine and its sister publication Sustainable Housing, focus on the best green social housing projects constructed in the UK and the organizations responsible for them.

Mayville Community Centre Passivhaus

The Mayville Community Centre has been shortlisted in the 3R Awards Public Building category alongside Central Hall, Keighley (Hodson Architects) and The Octagon, Haringey (Mace).  The winners will be anounced at an awards ceremony on 10th November at The Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington.

Bere:architects has been shortlisted in the BD Architect of the Year Awards 2011 for Environmental Excellence alongside Arup Associates and Sheppard Robson. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday 15th November at the Brewery in the City of London.

The Larch House has been recognised for its groundbreaking innovation at the Constructing Excellence Wales Awards 2011 in Cardiff on 14th July. The Innovation Award acknowledges the bravery of the project to create a unique building which leads the way in zero carbon low cost construction in housing.

Lime House Passivhaus

The two-bedroom, ultra low-cost Lime House in Ebbw Vale has just been awarded full Passivhaus certification. It also achieves code 5 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Larch and Lime House receive Exemplar Award

At the launch of Constructing Excellence Wales’ Exemplar Programme, bere:architects received a pilot Exemplar Programme award for designing the Larch and Lime House at Ebbw Vale.
