In October 2021, German national TV (ARD) featured bere:architects' retrofit at Passfield Drive, a government-funded prototype for the 2010 outgoing government's plan to massively scale up the retrofit of UK homes to meet their Zero Carbon 2050 plan. The project was delivered under the UK's 'Retrofit for the Future' programme but the scaling up ambition was abandoned by the incoming Conservative government as part of Prime Minister Cameron's "get rid of the green crap" initiative.

The occupants describe the comfort, health and environmental benefits of the retrofit, and their neighbours complain about the loss of government ambition that has denied them the opportunity to enjoy similar improvements.
