All bere:architects staff commute to work by bicycle. Joseph Orchard and Christian Senkpiel are daily Brompton riders and took part in the 2011 Brompton World Championships at Blenheim Palace last weekend. It has been reported that 25% of London drivers have gotten rid of their vehicles during the past year. Partly due, no doubt, to the increased popularity of cycle commuting and the increasing fuel prices.

Christian and Joseph were placed a respectable 72nd and 65th out of a total of 800 riders, both achieving times below 27mins for the 8.3mile course. Justin Bere, one of the directors of bere:architects also uses his Brompton for commuting and arriving to meetings in style but was unfortunately unable to attend this year’s race. We also hope that Justin will be able to join Christian and Joseph in next year’s race which will mean they can enter into the team category.

The day also included a competition for the fastest Brompton folding which Joseph took part in with a time of 11.72 seconds meaning he came in the top 5 (in the world!). Please see video on our Films page.

Next year they wish to break in to the top 50 riders so some further training maybe needed.
