Mike Jackson of Splash tv and ecologically-minded architect Eric Parks were on site yesterday in Ebbw Vale to film a 'Soft Landings' handover event for the Larch and Lime house.

Maintenance officer Peter Counsel from United Welsh Housing Association came to learn more about the technical aspects of the two passivhaus dwellings, including how to keep them running optimally for the future tenants.

Alan Clarke, M&E consultant for the projects was also on-hand to pass on his expertise of the various systems and controls, with Justin Bere and Nick Newman from Bere:architects providing additional support.

Also present during the day to give interviews for industry wide dissemination were Jeff Jones of Pendragon Design & Build, Neil Smith of Holbrook Timber Frame, Helen Reardon of The Works and Dr. Olivia Guerra-Santin from the Welsh School of Architecture.

A really good day of filming in clear sunny conditions; a perfect time to demonstrate the importance of the solar blinds in the Larch house with it's larger windows, and the smaller windows in the Lime house which remove the requirement for them.
